God Instructs His People

God's instructions are limitless, which is why His words given to us in the Bible have been available from generation to generation. The purpose of the Bible is not just reading; it has been provided to us by God as a way to stay connected with him. God speaks to us through His words, and He does other things with them, too. 2 Timothy 3:16 states, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." This is precisely what God's word does in our lives, but in today's discussion, we will focus more on the instruction part.

As we grow in Christ, we gradually understand the importance of God's instruction. God does not only instruct us when things are going well in our lives, but He does so on daily bases. And how do we know when He's instructing us? The answer is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is given to us to help us in all things; therefore, when God instructs us, the Holy Spirit will bring that to our attention. So why does God instruct us? First, let us look at the meaning of the word "instruct" it means to direct, teach or inform someone of something, a subject, a fact, or a situation. Therefore, God does any or all of these things when He instructs us. Now let us get back into the verse where this all started from. In Psalm 32, verse 8, "I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you." As we can see, the verse implies that God instructs and teaches us how to go. This means if we allow God access to everything about us, He will instruct and teach us about everything. There is much more to God than we've been taught or read. The Bible tells of how God is filled with mysteries and reveals those mysteries to whoever is willing to know more about Him.

Some questions might arise as we go further, such as In what ways does God instruct us? One of the first ways He does this is through His word. The Spirit of God inspired the words of the Bible. These were accounts written by men through the Spirit of God, men who walked with God and our Lord Jesus Christ. And on those accounts, we can read countless verses where God or Jesus instructed these men, including women. God gave instructions on how to avoid dangers ahead. He gave instructions on what to do in situations such as the ones He gave Noah. One great example of how God instructs can be seen in the life of Moses. We read the account of how God instructed and led Moses to the land of Egypt to free the Israelites from King Pharaoh's captivity. A second way God will give us instructions will come through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth that the Father has sent to us. In the book of Nehemiah chapter nine, we are made aware that God gave His good Spirit to instruct them. Who is that "good Spirit?" the Holy Spirit. There are other ways God instructs us; we will cover those in the subsequent discussion. The take-home of today's bible verse discussion is that God instructs all of His children, those who are willing and ready to be used by Him. God asked a profound question in the book of Isiah 6 verse 8; he said, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" and Isaiah said, "send me." Are you ready to be used by God? Are you prepared to obey His instructions?
